The most important element in the repair of leaks caused by rust is to get rid of rust. First, use a wire brush or wire wheel on a drill to remove any loose rust. Some supposed experts will tell you that once you remove loose rust rust converter can paint over the rust and will not return. Not so. Get rid of the rust as possible by brushing thoroughly. After the rust is removed and the converter is applied, it is time to stop the leak. When the rust converter is completely dry, apply a layer of 1/8-inch-thick roofing cement around the drain. Before the cement dries, add several strips of aluminum foil. With the foil in place, use a can or jar on its side to roll around the plane. Once everything is smooth, add a final layer of review of roof. The total thickness of the repair should not exceed 3 / 16 inch. A dam can be created if roof cement is used too.
